What a week it has been! IoERC sent two women’s eights to the beautiful River Cam in central Cambridge to race each evening in the traditional bumping races. Jesus College Boat Club kindly accommodated us for the week. We’re so proud of the massive effort made by our dedicated coaches, coxes, crews, trailer-drivers, bank party, supporters on the bank and at home, and not forgetting our super-subs ever ready to step in when called upon!
The Elyminators in Division 3 gave a fantastic display of skill and determination, making two bumps during the week. Their happy faces beneath willow crowns were an absolute joy to behold!
Fen Fatale put up a gallant effort in Division 1. We came within inches of being in the Top 10 women’s crews on the Cam (we had overlap, but no bump). Maybe next year?!
Our junior section also did us proud, with some sixth formers racing in their first ever Bumps. We hope they’ve got a taste for the awesome atmosphere on the Cam!
The After-Bumps party was a night to remember, where we were kindly hosted by the Cambridge 99s club. Thanks go to their Captain, Keith, for the warm welcome. Chatting to fellow rowers at the bar and on the dancefloor, the conclusion is that Bumps is one of the most challenging, nervewracking, unpredictable but rewarding rowing events in the world. We are lucky to be able to participate and we are most grateful to the Cambridge Rowing Association for all their hard work to run this annnual event.
Well done, IoERC Bumps Crews 2025!
Slightly nervous W1 waiting on the bungline
Victorious W2 with their willow
W1 with game-faces on …
All smiles – W2 in the sunshine, made the bump!
