Introduction

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Club Management
    The club’s management committee holds overall responsibility for safeguarding and will ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are in place and adhered to.
  2. Club Welfare Officer (CWO)
    The club will appoint a Club Welfare Officer who will take the lead on all safeguarding matters. The CWO will be appropriately trained and will act as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns.
  3. Coaches and Volunteers
    All coaches and volunteers working with adults will undergo appropriate safeguarding training and DBS checks where required. They will be responsible for promoting the welfare and safety of participants and for reporting any concerns to the CWO.
  4. Participants
    All participants are encouraged to raise any safeguarding concerns they may have with the CWO. They should also familiarise themselves with the club’s code of conduct and reporting procedures.

  1. Initial Reporting
    Any safeguarding concerns should be reported to the CWO as soon as possible, either face-to-face or via email. In cases of emergency or immediate risk, the relevant authorities should be contacted first.
  2. Concerns Regarding CWO
    If the concern relates to the conduct of the Club Welfare Officer, it should be reported directly to the club’s management committee.
  3. Club’s Response

Review and Monitoring

This safeguarding policy will be reviewed annually by the club’s management committee to ensure that it remains current and effective. Any updates or amendments will be communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
