IoERC 20th Anniversary Family Day on the Water

Isle of Ely Rowing Club has been continuing to celebrate our 20th anniversary in many ways – what a fabulous achievement and long may it continue.

This Sunday was no exception and a family day was proposed for all at the club to take part in.
Despite the heavy showers – rowing is a water sport after all – the club had a great turnout.
Founder members were acknowledged; special birthdays were celebrated with lovely speeches and we all enjoyed a fabulous BBQ and home made cakes.
Our chair, Teresa, encouraged parents to row in stable Charles Stanley touring boats, with an experienced cox, stroke and bow person on board.  The parent crews came on brilliantly and we hope their children will be very proud of their parents for ‘giving it a go’.  The parents acknowledged that rowing is harder than it looks!
Everyone was broadly smiling when they got off the water which is why we all love rowing!
