Derek, Vicky and the club

As many will know, the club’s co-founder Vicky Parry has moved to Somerset. At a recent Sunday morning junior session she was presented with a painting of her in action by Tracey Newland. As a further token of appreciation, juniors and parents provided a delicious assortment of delicacies.

Vicky’s efforts have been integral to the club’s development and it is no exaggeration to say that without her initial input the club would not exist. In addition, at both regional and national levels, she has done valuable work for British Rowing, particularly with coach training. This work was recognised in 2022 with the award of British Rowing’s Medal of Merit. But it is her junior coaching within the club that will be especially remembered: an expert with a no-nonsense approach and a human touch – always ready to listen and lend support when needed.

Vicky will be greatly missed but we wish her and husband Graham well in their new home!
