Medals for IoERC at the 2026 British Masters Rowing Championships

Race report by Henrique Vellinho
Isle of Ely Rowing Club was represented at the 2026 British Masters Rowing Championships, where I competed in four composite crews over the weekend. Saturday’s racing was made especially challenging by strong headwinds and gusty conditions. Racing in a Master’s B double with X-Press Boat Club, we were eliminated in the heats, while a composite Master’s B quad with Rob Roy and X-Press finished third.

Sunday brought ideal racing conditions, with sunshine and virtually no wind—the best I’ve experienced at Nottingham. In the Master’s B coxless four, we recovered from steering issues in the heat to improve by 10 seconds and finish third in the final, just one second behind the silver medallists. The weekend concluded with a scratch composite Mixed Master’s C eight, where a crew of experienced rowers came together to win silver in the straight final, finishing just one second behind the winners and rounding off a successful championship with two bronze medals and one silver.
