Members of the club took part in the British Indoor Rowing Championships on Saturday 8th December.
The event, held at the Velodrome in London’s Olympic Park, saw the Isle of Ely athletes deliver 14 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals to finish off another successful year for the club.
The juniors won all three junior relay 8 mins: Junior Girls covered 2,499m, the Junior Boys set a new record covering 2899m, and Mixed Juniors also set a new record covering 2692m.
Poppy Shipley who was part of the successful Junior Girls relay team also won gold in the Year 11 Girls event by completing 1,642m in six minutes whilst Harriet Drake-Lee and Martha Bullen won joint bronze covering 1634m and Charlotte Bolton came 7th.
Niki Glen, a member of the Women’s sweep squad, won gold in the 55-59 Women’s 2km in a time of 7:55.7.
Junior William Buchanan won silver in the Year 11 Boys event covering 1844m in 6 mins and Tom Sharrock came 7th. Jamie Gare won silver in the 6th Form Boys 500m in a time of 01:22.6.
Other club members competing included Seren Palmer – Year 10 5mins and Year 10 500m, Josh Jones – Under 23 Men 2000m, Isaac Powell - Year 10 5mins, Finn Evens and Jake Tompkins - 6th Form Boys 2km, Phoebe Hayden and Freya Dingwall - 6th Form Girls 2km
Former Start members Holly Hill, now part of the GB Women’s squad, came 5th in the Open Women’s 2km in 6:52.1 and Leo Lundgrun competed in the Open Men’s 2km.
